Deion Sanders’ HOF Hiring Move Overshadowed as Analyst Blames Pat Shurmur for Colorado’s Woes

Deion Sanders is making big moves for Colorado football, and bringing in Marshall Faulk as RB coach is the latest power play. The Buffs now have three Hall of Famers on staff—Sanders, Warren Sapp, and Faulk—showing a commitment to elite-level mentorship. But while Faulk’s hiring excites fans, the bigger question remains: Can he fix Colorado’s struggling run game, or will Pat Shurmur’s play-calling continue to hold the offense back?

Shurmur’s track record isn’t exactly inspiring. As OC, Colorado averaged just 65.2 rushing yards per game last season, despite having top-tier talents in Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter leading the offense. Critics point to his time with the New York Giants, where his play-calling failed to maximize Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley. Now, with Shedeur and Hunter likely heading to the NFL in 2025, Colorado desperately needs a more balanced attack.

Faulk, despite being a first-time coach, understands the importance of the run game better than anyone. As a Super Bowl champion and three-time Offensive Player of the Year, he was one of the most versatile RBs in history. His presence could be a game-changer, but it all depends on whether he’ll have the freedom to make an impact—or if Shurmur’s scheme will continue to stifle the Buffs’ offense.

So, what do you think? Will Faulk be the key to unlocking Colorado’s rushing attack, or is the real issue still sitting in the OC’s chair?
