Keyshawn Davis Ignored as Gervonta Davis Confirms Future Plans After Lamont Roach Jr. Fight

Gervonta Davis’ Future Plans Leave Keyshawn Davis Out of the Picture

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis has hinted at his post-Lamont Roach Jr. plans, but rising star Keyshawn Davis is not among his potential opponents. ‘Tank’ is set to face WBA super featherweight champion Roach on March 1 in Brooklyn, continuing his pursuit of high-profile fights.

Meanwhile, Keyshawn Davis is gearing up for his own major opportunity, as he prepares to challenge WBO lightweight champion Denys Berinchyk on February 14 at Madison Square Garden Theater in New York. The Virginia-born contender has long called for a fight with ‘Tank,’ but so far, his challenges have gone unanswered.

Gervonta Davis Focuses on Established Stars

Former Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza, now working with Amazon Prime Video and PBC, recently revealed that Gervonta Davis is only interested in top-tier opponents. Speaking to iFL TV, Espinoza stated, “He doesn’t want to do anything that’s less than a top-tier [fight]… Maybe it’s Shakur [Stevenson], maybe it’s Ryan Garcia [in a rematch].”

This revelation comes as Davis has suggested he may retire from boxing after 2025, raising speculation about who will be among his final opponents. While names like Shakur Stevenson and a potential Ryan Garcia rematch remain in the conversation, a long-rumored bout with Vasyl Lomachenko has yet to materialize.

Keyshawn Davis Eyes a Bigger Challenge

Despite being overlooked by Gervonta Davis, Keyshawn Davis has set his sights on another high-profile opponent: IBF lightweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko. As he prepares for his world title shot against Berinchyk, Keyshawn has expressed his eagerness to test himself against Lomachenko, praising the Ukrainian’s skill and experience.

“I would love to fight Lomachenko,” Davis told Fight Hype. “He’s a great fighter, legendary fighter.” He also acknowledged Lomachenko’s dominant performance against George Kambosos Jr. but remains confident in his own abilities. “I feel like me and Lomachenko stylistically would be crazy. We both have that mentality where we’re not losing no matter what,” he added.

Will Their Paths Ever Cross?

For now, Keyshawn Davis remains outside Gervonta Davis’ plans, but if he can deliver an impressive performance against Berinchyk—or even secure a victory over Lomachenko—it could force ‘Tank’ to take notice. Whether their paths will eventually intersect remains uncertain, but in boxing, momentum and public demand can change everything.
