A Michigan Wolverines fan gained widespread attention this week after pulling off a bold stunt aimed at Ohio State head coach Ryan Day in New York City. The fan initially appeared to be posing for a friendly photo with Day outside a well-known steakhouse but suddenly taunted him before running off.
As they set up for the picture, the Michigan supporter made his allegiance clear, exclaiming, “Go Blue, baby! 4-0! Oh, let’s go Blue, baby… extend them!”—a direct reference to Michigan’s four-game winning streak over Ohio State.
Day, seemingly caught off guard, maintained his composure, responding with a smile before walking away without engaging.

Michigan recently extended its dominance over its longtime rival with a 13-10 victory in Columbus, marking the program’s fourth consecutive win in the series. While many Michigan fans celebrated this streak, reactions to the fan’s stunt were mixed.
Some college football followers found the gesture inappropriate. One fan questioned the behavior, stating, “Idk, this is kinda weird behavior.” Another Michigan fan expressed disappointment, saying, “Bro, and Ryan Day actually seemed happy to see the guy… nah, come on bruh, I’m a Michigan fan, and this is a new low.”

Others took the opportunity to poke fun at Michigan’s overall record, with one commenter writing, “Props to UM fans. Never seen anybody celebrate 8-5 like that in college football.”
A different take came from a Miami Hurricanes supporter, who remarked, “As a Miami Hurricanes fan, I would rather lose to FSU and win the natty than beat them and not win the natty.” The phrase “Extend him” also drew attention, as some found it amusing given the context.
Regardless of the mixed reactions, the viral moment only further fueled the intensity of the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry.
Meanwhile, Day found himself at the center of another viral moment, this time involving a humorous mishap with a golf cart. Following Ohio State’s national championship victory over Notre Dame, Day, quarterback Will Howard, and linebacker Cody Simon were en route to their postgame press conference when their golf cart accidentally crashed into a wall due to a miscalculated turn.
Fortunately, no one was injured, and the group laughed off the incident. Fans quickly compared the scene to a memorable moment from the 1997 film Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, where the titular character struggles to navigate a vehicle in a narrow hallway.
Day later embraced the humor of the situation, recounting the moment during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. “I said, ‘We’re in an Austin Powers movie right now,’” he joked.
The lighthearted moment served as a fitting conclusion to a historic season for Day, who led Ohio State to its first national championship under the new 12-team playoff format.
