Fijian Under-20 rugby player Iliesa Erenavula is determined to secure a professional contract by the end of the year, viewing it as a critical step toward building a future in rugby. With a demanding schedule ahead, Erenavula is focused on achieving team goals while giving his utmost effort both on and off the field.
As one of three returning players from last year’s squad, he acknowledges the significance of this year in shaping his rugby career. He views this as a decisive moment, with hopes of turning his passion for rugby into a sustainable livelihood.
Erenavula emphasized the importance of team success, stating that the primary goal for the squad is to win all three matches at the Super 20 tournament in New Zealand. On a personal level, his ambition is clear: to secure a professional contract and make rugby his career.
He highlighted the role of discipline and attention to detail in achieving success, especially when representing the national team. Erenavula also draws inspiration from his family legacy, being the grandson of Luke Erenavula, a former Fiji Bati winger and a key player in Fiji’s 2005 Melrose Cup victory. He aspires to honor his family’s name by continuing their prominence in the sport.
Currently, Erenavula and his teammates are preparing for the Oceania Rugby Under-20 Challenge, which will take place in New Zealand next month.
