The Fijian Drua will make history tomorrow as they take on Rugby FC Los Angeles in a groundbreaking clash between a Super Rugby team and a Major League Rugby side from the USA. This match is set to be a special occasion for the Drua’s newest recruit, Vuate Karawalevu, who will don the Drua jersey for the first time.
Karawalevu’s Excitement to Debut
Having previously played for the Waratahs and represented the Flying Fijians, Karawalevu is thrilled to make his Drua debut, especially on home soil:
> “It’s going to be a big occasion for me… super excited to be running onto the field tomorrow. I hope for a good outcome and to see what pre-season has been all about.”
Karawalevu also mentioned that the Drua had a training session with the visiting RFC Los Angeles side, from which they gained valuable insights.
Support and Collaboration
Interestingly, a few Drua Development players stepped in to assist the LA team, whose preparations were disrupted last week by illnesses among their squad. RFC Los Angeles coach, former Wallaby Stephen Hoiles, expressed gratitude for the support and shared his admiration for the Drua’s world-class facility in Legalega, Nadi.
The Stage is Set
The match will take place at Churchill Park in Lautoka, with kickoff scheduled for 3 PM. This exciting pre-season encounter will not only showcase Fijian flair but also strengthen the ties between Super Rugby and Major League Rugby. Fans will be eager to see how the Drua perform in this unique international matchup and how Karawalevu adapts to his new team.
