“I’ve got everything it takes”: Lando Norris aims to win the Championship in 2025 after bringing glory back to McLaren

Lando Norris is setting his sights on the 2025 F1 season with high expectations, claiming he has “everything it takes” to fight for the World Championship. After McLaren’s incredible resurgence in 2024, culminating in their first Constructors’ Championship since 1998, Norris is confident about the team’s potential and his personal growth.

Norris Reflects on 2024 Success

Last season, Norris finished as runner-up in the Drivers’ Championship behind Max Verstappen, who secured his fourth consecutive title. Norris also celebrated his first F1 race victory and claimed four wins throughout the year. Reflecting on his performance, Norris shared on the F1: Back at Base podcast:

> “I’ve been pretty proud of my performance… delivering when I have. I’ve made my mistakes and learned a lot from them.”

He emphasized that McLaren now has a competitive car and believes he has the skills to win the World Championship:

“I believe I’m a good enough driver… I’ve learned a lot, improved a lot, and I’m ready to bring the fight to everyone.”

Confidence and Growth

Norris admitted that confidence was an area he struggled with earlier in his career but revealed that his success in 2024 has transformed his mindset:

> “Confidence is something I’ve struggled with… I’ve only built enough up throughout this season to go, ‘I’m confident that I’m a good enough driver to win a championship next year.'”

Red Bull’s 2024 Struggles

Despite Verstappen’s individual dominance, Red Bull dropped to third in the Constructors’ standings due to Sergio Perez’s inconsistency. Norris acknowledged Verstappen’s remarkable performances but pointed out the disparity between Red Bull’s drivers:

> “Red Bull probably would have won the Constructors’ if they had two drivers as good as Max… One driver isn’t enough in this sport.”

Red Bull has since replaced Perez with Liam Lawson, signaling a shift for the team as they aim to regain their competitive edge.

Looking Ahead to 2025

With McLaren’s momentum and Norris’ determination, the 2025 season promises to be a fierce battle. As Norris continues to mature and learn, he seems poised to challenge Verstappen and other top drivers for F1’s ultimate prize. Fans will be eager to see if McLaren can maintain their upward trajectory and if Norris can finally claim the championship he’s been working toward since his debut in 2019.
