I Have a Wife’: Novak Djokovic’s Quick Wit Shuts Down Drunk Heckler to Roaring Applause at Rod Laver Arena

Novak Djokovic delivered a dominant performance against Tomas Machac, securing a place in the fourth round of the 2025 Australian Open with a 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 victory. The win was particularly sweet for Djokovic, as it avenged last year’s loss to Machac in Geneva. However, the match was filled with drama, including Djokovic taking a medical timeout due to nausea and later dealing with a disruptive heckler.

In a humorous turn of events, Djokovic addressed the heckler after the match during his on-court interview. He responded, “Sorry mate, I’ve a wife. We can have a drink, maybe you had a few already. Him and I were going back and forth for quite a while already. I’m happy to have a drink with him. Now the match is over, I think we can reflect nicely on what we said to each other during the match (laughs).”

This playful exchange left fans debating whether Djokovic’s comeback to the heckler was justified, with some praising his handling of the situation while others felt it crossed the line.
