The Toronto Marlies will be represented by three key figures at the 2025 AHL All-Star Classic in Palm Desert, California. Marlies captain Logan Shaw and forward Alex Steeves were chosen to participate in the two-day event, marking another milestone in their careers. Both players have prior experience at the AHL All-Star Classic, with Shaw attending in 2019 (with the Manitoba Moose) and 2023 (with Toronto), while Steeves was selected last season.
Steeves, the Marlies’ standout performer this season, leads the team with 30 points and 17 goals in just 23 games. Recently, he broke the Marlies’ points record and is closing in on the franchise goals record of 94, set by Ryan Hamilton. Steeves is currently ranked fifth in goals and 10th in points among AHL players and boasts the best points-per-game average in the league. The 25-year-old signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the offseason and is set to become a Group 6 unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

Logan Shaw, who recently played for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup, has also been a strong contributor for the Marlies, recording four goals and 14 assists for 18 points in 27 games. The veteran forward secured a two-year AHL contract extension with Toronto on December 20, ensuring he remains with the team through the 2026-27 season.
The Marlies’ success extends beyond individual players, as head coach John Gruden was named the North Division’s head coach for the All-Star Classic. Gruden earned this recognition after his team posted the best record in the division. Reflecting on the honor, Gruden emphasized the collective effort of his staff and players, highlighting the significant contributions of assistant coaches, goalie coaches, video analysts, and others. He expressed a desire to bring the entire team to the event in recognition of their hard work.
The 2025 AHL All-Star Classic will feature a skills competition on February 2 at 9 p.m. ET, followed by the All-Star Challenge on February 3 at 9 p.m. ET. Additionally, the league will host its Hall of Fame induction and awards ceremony prior to the All-Star game.
