Angel Reese has always been vocal about her admiration for Michael Jordan, referring to the Chicago Bulls legend as “the only person I really want to come to a game.” Despite never meeting him, Reese has expressed hope that Jordan might one day attend one of her games. However, her respect for MJ doesn’t necessarily extend to the Jordan brand.
Recently, Reese sparked an interesting exchange on social media. Responding to a tweet from Dearica Hamby, Reese asked, “When you teaching me how to play spades?” This prompted Kahleah Copper of the Phoenix Mercury to chime in, correcting Reese’s phrasing with a playful, “*US.” Hamby, continuing the conversation, posted a short video clip showcasing playing cards adorned with the Jordan brand logo, humorously captioning it, “Got cards in my purse at all times 😂😂.”
Reese, however, was quick to respond with her reservations about the brand, stating, “Oh Mama D, I’m sorry, but I’m not playing with that brand of cards…” While a fan of Michael Jordan, Reese’s loyalty appears to lie firmly with Reebok, the brand that recently signed her for a signature shoe set to release in 2026. Reebok, which is owned by Authentic Brands and valued at $20 billion as of 2023, has seen its stock value rise steadily in recent years.
Adding to the playful debate, Copper also weighed in with her preference, commenting, “Woaaahhhhhh /// stripes only,” seemingly advocating for Adidas over Jordan brand cards.
This lighthearted exchange between players highlights Reese’s brand loyalty while offering fans a glimpse into the camaraderie and humor shared among WNBA stars.
