Deion Sanders has 2-word reaction to Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig’s decision to declare for the NFL Draft

Colorado safety Cam’Ron Silmon-Craig, a key contributor to the Buffaloes’ improved defense during the 2024 season, announced on Sunday that he will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. He joins teammates quarterback Shedeur Sanders and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter in making the leap to the professional level.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Silmon-Craig expressed gratitude to his coaches for their guidance throughout his college career. He specifically thanked head coach Deion Sanders and other staff members for their support. “To coach Livingstone, coach Mathis, and Coach Prime, thank you all for pushing me every day to be a better player while always pushing me to be a better man,” Silmon-Craig wrote. “I can’t thank you all enough.” Coach Sanders responded to Silmon-Craig’s post with a brief but meaningful comment: “My Dawg.”

Silmon-Craig was one of several key players, including Shilo Sanders, Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter, who transferred to Colorado from Jackson State in 2022 to play under Deion Sanders. After a challenging first season that ended with a 4-8 record, the Buffaloes showed significant improvement in 2024, finishing with a 9-4 record and becoming bowl-eligible for the first time since 2016.

Ahead of the team’s Alamo Bowl appearance against BYU, Silmon-Craig reflected on his time at Colorado and the foundation he and his teammates have laid for future success. “We didn’t get a chance to play for a Big 12 championship or a national championship, but we still want to see that happen here,” he said. “We are the guys that you’ll remember that started this.”

Silmon-Craig also spoke highly of the team’s incoming players, including nine members of the class of 2025, such as quarterback Julian Lewis, who joined the team for their bowl preparations. “It’s been wonderful seeing the guys come in with a hunger,” he said. “They all caught on with how we get things done… These guys are very quiet, just trying to listen and learn. I’m going to be so happy for these guys coming in. They’re going to do some big things.”

During the 2024 season, Silmon-Craig recorded 64 solo tackles, one forced fumble, one interception, and three passes defended. His performance was a vital part of Colorado’s resurgence, and his leadership and contributions will leave a lasting impact on the

program.
