Deion Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, shared a heartfelt message to Vincent Dancy, Colorado’s departing defensive ends coach, on Tuesday. Sanders responded to Dancy’s farewell tweet, expressing gratitude for Dancy’s contributions to the team and their journey together.
Using a touch of humor and inspiration, Sanders referenced Denzel Washington, stating, “My brother! Denzel’s voice,” in his response to Dancy’s message. Dancy is leaving Colorado to accept a position as the defensive ends coach at Mississippi State.
In his farewell message, Dancy thanked Sanders for believing in him and giving him an unforgettable opportunity. He expressed appreciation for Sanders’ impact on his personal and professional growth, writing, “You and PT will always be an integral part of my life and career. I’m forever grateful for the memories, growth, and unwavering support throughout my journey.”
Dancy, who played linebacker and safety at Jackson State from 2002 to 2005, began his coaching career in 2009 as a graduate assistant with the Tigers. He later served as defensive coordinator for Paine College in 2014 and Mississippi Valley State from 2015 to 2017, before being promoted to head coach at Mississippi Valley State.
Dancy joined Colorado’s staff in 2023 as the defensive quality control coach and was promoted to defensive ends coach for the 2024 season. In his time with the Buffaloes, Dancy helped the team achieve a combined 13-12 record over two seasons alongside Sanders.
This marks a significant move for Dancy, as he reunites with the program in his home state. Meanwhile, Sanders continues to make headlines as speculation grows around his future. With his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, preparing for the 2025 NFL draft, some wonder if Sanders will remain with Colorado after they depart. Despite being linked to potential NFL coaching opportunities, Sanders has indicated he intends to stay with the Buffaloes. He signed a five-year, $29.5 million contract with Colorado in December 2022, which extends through the 202
7 season.
