Alabama OL Tyler Booker drops 4-word reaction to Malachi Moore’s 2025 NFL draft decision

Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Malachi Moore has officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. The Trussville native and former four-star recruit made the announcement on Instagram, reflecting on his time at Alabama and expressing gratitude for the experiences and support he received.

Moore, who was a graduate student in 2024, achieved a rare distinction as the only player in Iron Bowl history to win the game five times. His Instagram post, captioned “Thank you Alabama 🐘❤️ #Proverbs16:3,” garnered widespread support from fans and teammates. Among the responses, a comment from fellow Alabama player Tyler Booker stood out, saying, “It’s go time Brudda❤️.”

Standing at 6’0” and weighing 198 pounds, Moore is recognized as a versatile safety with excellent instincts and impressive range. He excels in covering deep zones and matching up with slot receivers, making him a strong candidate for an early-round selection in the NFL Draft. Although his physicality in the box may not be his defining trait, his ability to read plays and secure tackles adds significant value to his game.

Moore’s collegiate career was not without controversy. During Alabama’s 40-35 loss to Vanderbilt in Week 6, he faced criticism for slamming Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia’s head into the turf, drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. This incident sparked debates about his sportsmanship.

Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton came to Moore’s defense, drawing comparisons between Moore’s passionate behavior and the actions of legendary players like Tom Brady. Speaking on his “4th and 1” podcast, Newton highlighted the double standards in how such actions are perceived depending on the athlete. Newton pointed out how similar displays of emotion are often labeled as passion for some players and unsportsmanlike for others, referencing Brady’s sideline outbursts as an example.

“This is no different than judging greatness,” Newton said, defending Moore’s actions as an expression of competitive fire. Newton criticized the inconsistent narrative, adding that passionate behavior is often celebrated in some athletes while others face undue scrutiny.

Nick Saban, Alabama’s retired head coach, addressed the incident on a sports show, describing it as “totally uncharacteristic” of Moore. Following the incident, Moore publicly apologized, expressing regret for his actions and acknowledging the disappointment he caused to his team and fans.

Despite this controversy, Moore’s talent and leadership on the field have solidified his reputation as a promising NFL prospect, and his transition to the professional level is highly

anticipated.
