Quinn Ewers joins forces with Matthew McConaughey to give away $100k to young athletes for a special cause

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers recently teamed up with actor Matthew McConaughey to distribute $100,000 to young athletes, aiming to help them purchase essential sports equipment. Ewers announced the initiative through a video on his Instagram story, where he was seen at a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Austin, Texas. In the video, he shared that he and McConaughey collaborated to transform the store into a festive “Longhorn’s winter wonderland,” earning a $100,000 Sports Matter Grant in the process.

In November, McConaughey, a well-known Texas native, contributed to decorating Dick’s Sporting Goods locations during the holiday season. This effort involved other prominent celebrities and athletes from Texas, who joined in creating a festive atmosphere.

Ewers, who transferred to Texas in 2022 after playing one season with Ohio State, expressed his commitment to giving back to the community. Currently valued at $2.4 million through NIL endorsements, Ewers continues to make an impact both on and off the field after three seasons with the Texas Longhorns.

Looking ahead, reports have surfaced suggesting that Ewers plans to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. His departure could open the door for Arch Manning to take over as Texas’ starting quarterback next season. However, when questioned about his plans, Ewers stated that no decision had been made yet. He emphasized that his primary focus is on winning games and helping Texas succeed in the current season.

Ewers has one year of college eligibility remaining, which means he could potentially return for the 2025 college football season. For now, he remains dedicated to leading Texas in the College Football Playoff. Texas, ranked No. 5, is set to face Clemson in the first round, with Ewers expected to play a pivotal role in the Longhorns’ offensive strategy.
