2 more Georgia Bulldogs enter the transfer portal

Georgia football has had an eventful day regarding the transfer portal, with some departures from the team, especially on the defensive side. As the Bulldogs focus on their College Football Playoff run, the transfer portal is becoming a key storyline in college football.

On Friday, Georgia lost a young defensive back to the portal, but the biggest news came with the exits of linebacker Troy Bowles and EDGE Samuel M’Pemba. Both players, despite their potential, saw limited playing time this season and are seeking better opportunities elsewhere.

Troy Bowles, a linebacker, recorded just five tackles in three games during the 2023 season. Despite expectations for more playing time, he did not feature in a game this season, which led to his decision to enter the portal. It’s understandable that Bowles is looking for a program where he can see more action and develop further.

Samuel M’Pemba, an EDGE rusher, also entered the portal after a lack of playing time. Like Bowles, M’Pemba did not play in a game this season, following a modest contribution in 2023 with six tackles over four games. With both players struggling to get consistent opportunities at Georgia, it makes sense for them to seek a new program where they can have more of an impact.

Although it’s unfortunate to see talent leave, both Bowles and M’Pemba are making decisions that could be better for their careers. For Georgia, it’s a chance to reevaluate its depth chart and look for replacements while staying focused on their championship aspirations.
