The Fijian Drua will host a community blitz this Friday to strengthen its connection with fans, regarded as some of the best in the world. As part of this initiative, the team plans to engage with supporters in the northern region by visiting Seaqaqa District School and Seaqaqa Primary School.
The program aims to inspire and educate young fans and students, with a focus on promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging participation in rugby. Through physical activities, lessons on healthy eating, and the introduction of rugby through the Get Into Rugby Program, the team seeks to instill positive habits among the youth.
The club’s Community Programme Lead highlighted the dual purpose of the blitz, emphasizing its value for both fans and players. Players are encouraged to engage with the community, serving as role models who inspire young people to pursue active and healthy lives. Additionally, the experience helps players understand their responsibility in representing the community and the nation whenever they don the Drua uniform.
The initiative also serves to build excitement for the upcoming season and home games, fostering a deeper bond between the team and its supporters. Schools were chosen for this program in partnership with the Fiji Rugby Union’s Development Unit.
In addition to the schools in Seaqaqa, other institutions to be visited include Nakelo District School, Sanatan Dharam Primary School, John Wesley Primary School, Pundit Vishnu Primary School, Lautoka Methodist Primary School, Lautoka Central Primary School, Vatukoula Marist Convent School, and Tavua Primary School.
