The insane price Shohei Ohtani 50/50 ball could reach at auction

Shohei Ohtani’s 50th home run ball is expected to fetch an extraordinary price at auction, with estimates suggesting it could surpass $10 million. The auction, set to conclude on Tuesday, has already attracted offers exceeding $2 million, and Ken Goldin, the CEO of the auction house managing the sale, believes the price could soar into eight figures as the bidding intensifies.

Ohtani hit the historic 50th home run on September 19 during a game against the Miami Marlins, and the ball has since become a highly sought-after piece of memorabilia. Goldin predicts that Ohtani’s global appeal and the significance of his performance will drive the price to potentially record-breaking levels. The auction has generated immense excitement among collectors and fans, who see it as a rare opportunity to own a piece of baseball history.

There were initial concerns that the auction might be halted due to a legal dispute, but those issues were resolved, allowing the sale to proceed as planned. Ohtani himself has not expressed interest in participating in the auction, but he is eligible to bid if he chooses, just like any other buyer.

The auction is scheduled to close at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, but the bidding could extend into the night or even the following days. As long as new bids are placed within 30-minute intervals, the auction will remain open, keeping the competition alive for this highly coveted item.
