I’m like during COVID, there’s no business meetings” – When Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone recalled Andre Levrone faking business trip for first date

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone once shared a story about how her now-husband, Andre Levrone, cleverly used a business meeting as an excuse to meet her for the first time during the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple, who tied the knot at Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison in May 2022, started their relationship as friends before it developed into something more.

In an October 2023 episode of ‘The It Girls’ on YouTube, Sydney reflected on how her relationship with Andre began. He had expressed that he wanted to build a friendship first and get to know her better before taking things further. During the pandemic, in late 2020, Andre told Sydney that he had to travel to Los Angeles for a business meeting and suggested they meet up while he was in town. Sydney, however, quickly realized that Andre was likely using the business trip as an excuse for their first date, given that many offices were closed and most people were working remotely at the time. She humorously recalled, “During COVID-19, bro, there’s no business meetings happening.”

Andre proposed to Sydney in August 2021 at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale, and the two were married less than a year later. Since then, their relationship has continued to thrive.

After Sydney’s impressive performances at the Paris Olympics, Andre shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, praising his wife for her many qualities. He expressed his admiration for her class, grace, strength, intelligence, and athleticism, among other attributes. Andre emphasized how much joy it brought him to support Sydney during her Olympic campaign and celebrated her as an excellent woman, wife, and champion.

At the Paris Olympics, Sydney not only claimed gold in the 400m hurdles, breaking her own world record, but also played a key role in the USA’s victory in the women’s 4x400m relay.
