Adam Pope provides a noteworthy update regarding Cheikhou Kouyate’s potential signing with Leeds United

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke is keeping a close watch on his players during the international break as the team prepares for challenging matches against Sheffield United and Watford. Leeds currently sits 5th in the Championship, three points behind the top spot, following a 2-2 draw with Sunderland, where Illan Meslier’s late error cost the win.

Joe Rodon, who permanently joined Leeds in the summer, has been a key player, starting all nine Championship games this season. He recently played in Wales’ 2-2 Nations League draw with Iceland, earning mixed reviews from the Welsh media despite his solid stats. Rodon’s performance showed signs of fatigue after continuous appearances for both club and country, but Farke will be hoping he returns in top form for the upcoming matches.

Farke’s squad is heavily affected by international duty, with several players, including Mateo Joseph, Ao Tanaka, and Joe Rodon, involved. However, some key players, such as Ethan Ampadu and Manor Solomon, remain sidelined with injuries. Meanwhile, Farke has given non-international players time off to recharge after a busy period, allowing them to recover ahead of the next set of fixtures. The injured players staying at Thorp Arch, like Solomon and James, continue their rehab in hopes of returning for the Sheffield United game.
