Love What He’s Done” – Matt Daly’s Impact on Coco Gauff’s China Open Win Highlighted as Andy Roddick Dismisses the Need for ‘Super-Coach

Coco Gauff recently made a significant change to her coaching staff after a series of disappointing performances, ending her partnership with Brad Gilbert following the US Open. She brought in Matt Daly ahead of the China Open, and despite the short time they’ve worked together, the decision quickly paid off as Gauff claimed the China Open title. This success has led Andy Roddick to reconsider his stance, now suggesting that Daly should be Gauff’s permanent coach.

Initially, Daly was only added to Gauff’s team for the Asian Swing of the WTA Tour, but his influence has already been evident. Under his guidance, Gauff has managed to regain her winning form. Roddick, speaking on his podcast, praised Daly’s tennis acumen and suggested Gauff may no longer need a “super-coach” given her current success with Daly.

However, Gauff herself remains undecided, acknowledging that while Daly has helped her immensely, she is still on the lookout for a long-term coach. She noted that her focus at this stage in her career is development, with her serve being a key area for improvement. Gauff emphasized that when her serve is strong, her overall game improves, and Daly has already helped her make noticeable progress in that area.

After winning in Beijing, Gauff continued her strong form in Wuhan, defeating Viktoriya Tomova in the round of 32. She now faces Marta Kostyuk in the pre-quarterfinals as she aims for back-to-back ti

tles.
