“Maybe he wasn’t interested in me”- When Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opened up about waiting for husband Andre Levrone’s DM at the start of relationship

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, a world-class athlete, recently ended her 2024 season after competing at the Brussels Diamond League. In her book Far Beyond Gold, published in January, she shared details about her journey to success, including personal and professional challenges. One amusing story from the book describes her initial attempts to get her now-husband Andre Levrone’s attention on social media. They were introduced through a mutual friend, but before meeting in person, Levrone first reached out to her via social media by sliding into her DMs.

After replying to his message, McLaughlin-Levrone waited for his response, but it took longer than expected. She humorously recalled how, despite following him back on social media, she didn’t hear from him for weeks. During that time, she received messages from other guys, many of whom were uninspired and challenged her to races with the promise of dinner if they won. But Levrone remained silent, making her wonder if he wasn’t interested.

Despite the awkward start, the couple eventually connected, leading to their engagement on August 5, 2021, at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, and their wedding at a vineyard in Virginia in 2022. Reflecting on her relationship with Levrone, McLaughlin-Levrone spoke about how he positively influenced her career. In an interview, she expressed admiration for how Levrone pushes her to be her best and appreciates his ability to see the good in others. She emphasized that their relationship is based on mutual love and understanding, free from judgment.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, McLaughlin-Levrone won two gold medals: one in the 400m hurdles, where she set a new world record with a time of 50.37 seconds, and another in the 4x100m relay, where the U.S. team finished in 3:15.27.
