A few months after Leeds United exit, Elland Road flop scores absolute stunner in 3-1 Championship win

Leeds United has taken steps to reduce their wage bill in preparation for the 2024-25 season by offloading several players who were not regularly utilized and clearing out excess squad members. Among the eight players who benefited from Victor Orta’s loan clause in 2023, four were sold permanently, while others, including Georginio Rutter and Crysencio Summerville, moved to top-tier clubs.

Several players also departed on free transfers, with Luke Ayling, Ian Poveda, Jamie Shackleton, and Cody Drameh joining Championship clubs. Meanwhile, Stuart Dallas decided to retire. Liam Cooper made an unexpected transfer to CSKA Sofia, and numerous other players left Elland Road at the conclusion of their contracts. Ayling has made a strong start at Middlesbrough after a successful loan period.

Cooper had a clean sheet in his debut match in Bulgaria, while Shackleton has faced some injury challenges and is not a regular starter under Chris Wilder, experiencing a similar situation to his time at Leeds.

Cody Drameh, who previously struggled to find his footing at Leeds, has recently started three consecutive matches for Hull City at left-back. He had been on loan at Cardiff, Luton, and Birmingham, managing only ten senior appearances for Leeds. Despite receiving a new contract offer from Leeds, Drameh opted to join Hull.

On Tuesday night, Drameh scored his first professional goal, a stunning half-volley from 20 yards, contributing to Hull City’s 3-1 victory. This marked a significant moment in his career following a tough period.

Although Drameh’s performance was not flawless—he had a shaky start and was involved in a penalty incident—he received praise for his goal and overall effort, with a rating of 7/10 from the Hull Daily Mail. The article highlights the positive trajectory of his career as he begins to enjoy his football again after a challenging time with multiple loans from Leeds.
