British boxing board suspends Anthony Joshua

Former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been handed a 28-day suspension following his knockout loss to Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium. The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) issued the suspension, a routine measure after a fighter suffers a TKO or KO defeat, according to the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports.

 

Joshua, now 34, endured a tough bout, getting knocked down three times before Dubois delivered a decisive right hand in the fifth round. This defeat marks Joshua’s fourth career loss, following earlier defeats to Andy Ruiz Jr. and Oleksandr Usyk.

 

While the suspension is unlikely to affect Joshua’s immediate plans, as no future fights are scheduled, questions about his future have emerged. Former boxer Carl Froch criticized Joshua’s performance, citing concerns about his motivation and recovery. Froch commented, “I question Anthony Joshua’s desire to be in that boxing ring anymore…that performance was weak.”
