Controversy Erupts After Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr’s Win as Al Wehda Boss Slams ‘Invalid’ Penalty Decision

Al Nassr continued their winning form in Saudi Pro League Matchday 5, securing a 2-0 victory over Al Wehda. Cristiano Ronaldo played a key role, scoring from a penalty. However, the aftermath of the match has caused some controversy, with Al Wehda’s manager, Joseph Zinnbauer, criticizing the referee’s decisions. Zinnbauer questioned the legitimacy of the penalty awarded to Al Nassr and expressed frustration over the red card shown to midfielder Waleed Bakshween late in the match.

The penalty came after Sultan Al-Ghannam was brought down in the 18-yard box by Mohamed Al Makahasi. Despite Zinnbauer’s disagreement, the referee awarded the penalty, which Ronaldo converted. This goal marked Ronaldo’s 70th for Al Nassr, bringing him closer to becoming one of the club’s top scorers, although he still trails behind players like Mohammed Al-Sahlawi and Abderrazak Hamdallah.

Additionally, Angelo Gabriel, a recent summer signing, opened the scoring for Al Nassr with a well-executed chip just before halftime. Al Wehda was reduced to 10 men when Bakshween was shown a second yellow card in the 88th minute, but the dismissal came too late to affect the outcome of the match. Despite Zinnbauer’s protests, Al Nassr’s victory moved them to second place in the league, just one point behind the leaders, Al Hilal.
