Forced to Stay Apart, Simone Biles Reveals How Husband Jonathan Owens Keeps Her Close: “Still There With Him”

Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have spent much of their time apart recently. While Owens took a break from his NFL schedule to support Biles during her time in Paris, she had to stay focused with Team USA. Despite being back in the U.S., Biles is still on the move due to the Gold Over America tour. However, even though they’re physically apart, they remain connected in spirit.

After a show in Arizona, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist found a way to surprise her husband with a special tattoo. The 27-year-old got a small “J” tattoo on her ring finger as a tribute to Owens. Owens has a matching “S” tattoo, but his is significantly larger. This ink was a way for him to feel connected to Biles, especially as she prepares for one of the biggest Olympics of her career.

Biles shared in an interview that Owens had his “S” tattoo done so he could feel her presence even when he isn’t wearing his ring during games. The NFL player, who plays for the Chicago Bears, surprised Biles with the tattoo, and she decided to return the gesture. Despite her busy schedule, Biles kept her own tattoo plans a secret and revealed it to Owens later. When she called him after getting it done, he was so moved that he said he felt like crying.

This isn’t the first time Biles and Owens have marked their relationship with tattoos. The couple also has matching “444” tattoos, symbolizing their commitment to each other “for better, for worse, forever.” Biles’ tattoos carry a lot of meaning beyond just her personal life. Her first tattoo, the Olympic rings, celebrates her gold medals from Rio 2016. She also has the word “golden” on her wrist, paired with her birth year, “1997.”

Biles has also used tattoos to represent important moments in her career, such as her withdrawal from the Tokyo Olympics due to mental health challenges. The phrase “And still I rise,” inspired by Maya Angelou’s poem, reminds her of the resilience she gained during that time. Along with the “J” tattoo, Biles also got another tattoo in Arizona that says “Made in Heaven,” although she hasn’t shared its exact meaning yet.

Each of Biles’ tattoos tells a story, whether it’s about her love for Owens, her career milestones, or the challenges she’s

overcome.
