‘Tottenham completely lack balance’ insists critical former midfielder

Former Premier League midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker believes that Tottenham Hotspur lack a backup strategy and that other teams have figured out their style of play.

Tottenham have had a challenging start to their Premier League season, securing only four points from their first four matches. Their difficulties were highlighted by a heavy defeat to their rivals Arsenal on Sunday.

Manager Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff are facing significant pressure early in the campaign. However, Reo-Coker noted that he was previously impressed with Postecoglou’s playing style last season.

The former Aston Villa and West Ham player pointed out that although Tottenham’s football is attractive, the team seems unable to adapt to different situations on the pitch. He also criticized them for their lack of balance.

Reflecting on their style, Reo-Coker said he was initially hopeful for Tottenham last season, expecting a positive change. However, he now sees the team as unbalanced and overly dependent on their approach.

According to him, Tottenham’s gameplay is entertaining but suffers from the absence of an alternative plan. He also suggested that opposing teams have already worked out Tottenham’s tactics, yet the Spurs continue to play the same way.

Tottenham’s next match is against Coventry City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, followed by a league game against Brentford on Saturday. They aim to recover from their recent consecutive defeats to Newcastle United and Arsenal.
