Rafael Nadal Fan Daria Kasatkina Attributes GOAT Debate to a ‘Matter of Taste’ amid Novak Djokovic’s Clear Dominance in Stats

The debate over who is the greatest tennis player of all time has persisted for years, with opinions varying widely. Although Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal are often at the center of these discussions, no definitive answer has emerged. Earlier today, Russian star Daria Kasatkina shared her thoughts on this ongoing debate.

In an interview with TNNS, Kasatkina, one of the top WTA players, was asked to choose a GOAT among the “Big 3” of tennis. She responded, “All three of them are unreachable. You know, if someone has an idol, they’ll love him even if the results are not up to par. And it’s obvious in my case, because it started in my childhood. But objectively, looking at the results, Novak is the greatest. It’d be silly to argue about that. And the rest is just a matter of taste.”

With Federer now retired and Nadal nearing the end of his career, Djokovic continues to dominate the ATP circuit, having won an incredible 24 Grand Slam titles and showing no signs of slowing down. Meanwhile, Nadal has claimed 22 major titles, and Federer retired with 20 Grand Slam victories to his name. Djokovic has surpassed both in various other achievements, including the most ATP Masters titles and the most weeks ranked as World Number 1.

Despite acknowledging Djokovic’s statistical dominance, Kasatkina is also a dedicated Nadal fan. She has previously expressed admiration for the Spaniard, especially when he faced challenges due to injuries.

Reflecting on Nadal’s resilience, Kasatkina once said, “I’m already happy that he’ll come back. It’s amazing how he proves it every time. Everyone writes him off, but every time he comes back like a phoenix and wins something. It’s totally unbelievable… If he can show some kind of result already in Australia, it will be very cool. As a fan from the cradle, I want to postpone the cry when your idol ends his career. I’m not in a hurry; I’d like to see more of his matches.”

Nadal’s recent comeback, however, didn’t go as planned, as he struggled to regain full fitness, causing him to miss several major tournaments. Nevertheless, he has not officially retired, and his fans remain hopeful for a storybook ending to his illustrious career.

The tennis community continues to speculate on whether Nadal can make one final push before retiring. Fans are encouraged to share their opinions on this ongoing discussion and whether the Spaniard can end his career on a high note.
