After Diamond League Fail, Sha’Carri Richardson Accepts Another Defeat, Not Just to Julien Alfred, as the 2024 Season Ends

The Allianz Memorial Van Damme meet delivered another thrilling event, filled with anticipation and excitement. After her strong comeback at the Zurich Diamond League, Sha’Carri Richardson stepped back on the track in Brussels, with fans hoping to see her secure yet another win. However, those hopes were quickly dashed when a sluggish start hindered her performance, leaving her to finish eighth with a time of 11.23 seconds.

The standout performance of the day came from Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who sped across the finish line in 10.88 seconds, claiming the Diamond League title and earning a $30,000 prize. Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith, who finished third, still leads the overall standings with 31 points and will be awarded $10,000. Despite her struggles, Ta Lou-Smith maintains a strong position in the competition.

For Richardson, however, the day was a disappointment. She currently holds eighth place in the Diamond League standings with 16 points, meaning her season concludes without any significant reward from Brussels.
