Angel Reese, known as “Chi-town Barbie,” looked stunning as she appeared with two long Dutch braids, glasses, a black top, and a sparkling silver sling bag. However, her left wrist was in a hard cast due to a recent injury. Despite this setback, she found a silver lining in her situation—using it to inspire others. After sustaining the wrist injury, Reese had surgery on Tuesday night to prevent future arthritis. Remarkably, just hours after her surgery, she was seen at the arena supporting the Chicago Sky as they faced the Washington Mystics.
A tweet from Bekoe highlighted Reese’s presence, showing her delivering motivational words to the Sky’s leading scorer, Chennedy Carter, during a game break. Carter had earlier praised Reese as a strong candidate for Rookie of the Year, acknowledging her consistent performance regardless of the opposition. Even though Carter couldn’t benefit from Reese’s on-court presence due to the injury, she clearly appreciated the support and contribution Reese provided off the court.
Carter went on to score 27 points, with six assists and four rebounds, and Isabelle Harrison added 21 points and nine rebounds. However, despite their efforts, the Chicago Sky fell short, losing 89-58 to the Mystics. This marked the Sky’s fourth loss to the Mystics out of five games this season, with their only win coming in the first matchup. Reese’s absence has undeniably affected the team’s performance, with the Sky struggling after her injury.
Before the injury, Reese’s impact on the team was significant, helping them stay competitive for a playoff spot. But now, the Sky is fighting alongside two other teams—Atlanta Dream and Washington Mystics—for the eighth and final playoff berth. This defeat leaves the Sky in a difficult position as they prepare for their next game against the Minnesota Lynx, one of the top teams in the league. With just four games left in the season, the Sky faces a tough path to secure their playoff spot, needing to overcome their recent struggles and rise to the occasion despite Reese’s absence.
