Byrne impressed with team’s fitness

As the Flying Fijians get ready to play the USA in the Pacific Nations Cup semifinal, coach Mick Byrne has voiced confidence in his team’s defensive qualities.

After seeing how well they played against Tonga, where they stopped any second-half points, Byrne praised the team’s tenacity and stamina.

He thinks these elements have played a major role in their capacity to apply consistent pressure and successfully end games.

We have been really happy with our level of fitness. The capacity to play through late into the game, perform well under duress, and consistently turn the corner and apply pressure.

Byrne also mentioned that the team is working to strengthen their defence, making sure they stay together as a unit to exert pressure on their opponents.
