Anthony Joshua Has No Doubt Which Performance Was His ‘Weakest’ Ever: “I Didn’t Give Enough”

Anthony Joshua’s ongoing journey as a student of boxing highlights his constant desire to improve, despite the setbacks he has faced. The back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk clearly left a lasting impact, especially the rematch, which Joshua now reflects on as his most painful defeat. He poured his heart into that fight, believing his preparation and effort would carry him through, only to come up short.

Since then, Joshua has worked to rebuild his career, with notable wins, including knockouts against Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and Francis Ngannou. His next test will come on September 21, when he faces Daniel Dubois in front of a potential record-setting crowd of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium. Dubois himself has built momentum, with impressive stoppages over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgović.

If Joshua gets through Dubois, his focus might shift to a potential third showdown with Usyk. But for that to happen, Usyk would need to defeat Tyson Fury in their December rematch, a fight that has huge implications for the heavyweight division. For Joshua, another shot at redemption against Usyk could be a defining moment in his career, giving him the opportunity to settle the score that haunts him the most.
