Ludacris and the Braves together? That combination is winning! The festivities on Wednesday paid homage to Ludacris, his illustrious career, and the dynamic culture he embodies. The stadium was rocking with supporters as they celebrated the rap legend’s influence on Atlanta’s music culture as Blooper, the team’s adored mascot, drove Luda onto the pitch. He threw the opening pitch there.
The highlight of the evening, though, was when Ludacris stole the show by tossing out the ceremonial first pitch against the Colorado Rockies while sporting the flamboyant kicks from “Stand Up” and the iconic gloves from his “Get Back” video. The legendary gloves were last featured in the video about 20 years ago. He delivered his song with the same explosive energy that has made it renowned. In addition, there was an exclusive bobblehead giveaway during the evening, which was reminiscent to the Shohei Ohtani event from a few days prior.

Ludacris, sporting the recognisable gloves from his “Get Back” music video and the eye-catching shoes from “Stand Up,” took the mound to deliver the ceremonial first pitch against the Colorado Rockies.

And if that wasn’t enough, the Braves went all out with a tribute that featured artefacts from official DJ Ludacris, a picture station featuring his well-known record covers, and a food truck called “Saturday Battery” that was modelled like his well-known Chicken & Beer restaurant. Ludacris is closely associated with the Atlanta sports community. From swinging off the roof of Mercedes-Benz Stadium during his historic 2023 NFL season halftime show to swaying to tunes like “Move,” “Welcome to Atlanta,” “Number One Spot,” “Yeah!” and “Yes!,” Not to be overlooked is his inclusion in the Braves’ 2023 City Connect uniform debut video, which cemented his place in Atlanta history. Let’s start by discussing the guys who have club alternatives. After struggling since his comeback, Luke Jackson—once a fan favorite—looks like the Braves may pass on his $7 million option. Conversely, Aaron Bummer has performed admirably, but it doesn’t appear like manager Brian Snitker really trusts him. His 2025 $7.25 million option is far from certain.
This offseason, the Braves’ bullpen situation is becoming increasingly complicated as some significant decisions are about to be made.AJ Minter, Jesse Chavez, and John Brebbia are the first players that will be available for free agency.
