Days After Leaking Caitlin Clark’s Texts, Sheryl Swoopes Showers Love for Angel Reese After Podcast Debut

Sheryl Swoopes has encountered difficulties because of Caitlin Clark. Fans of Clark had turned the Hall of Famer into a target of criticism after blaming the rookie for the Fever and minimising her impact on the team’s on-court success. In an unexpected turn of events, though, Swoopes stepped out to share the texts she sent to Clark about her call to correct Clark for breaking Kelsey Plum’s record as the all-time leading women’s NCAA scorer in five years rather than four. Clark reportedly received an apology from Swoopes, which she accepted. And now that Angel Reese has released the first episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, Swoopes has come out in favour of the seventh overall pick once more, presumably dropping hints that things are not going well between herself and Clark.

Reese praised Swoopes on Thursday’s episode of her most recent podcast for maintaining her poise in the face of the controversy. Swoopes responded with three heart emojis to a sample of the Chi-Town Barbie’s opinion that Swoopes should receive flowers for becoming a legend on X.

“You know to whom I would like to offer my flowers? Sheryl Swoopes. And even though she already has flowers, I believe I am truly giving her mine because I think she needs to be reminded that she is that girl. You know you’re that lady, that girl, that you were that, and you still are that. You will always be that. And with everything going on, I know there is a lot going on social media, and a lot of people have criticised her and said a lot of other things. And I said to her in a text message yesterday, “You know you do that.” You are a legend, you know. As Reese had said, “Your resume speaks for itself.”

“You don’t have to talk about nothing. I have observed her acting strangely on social media over the past few days. You’re aware that you don’t have to appear that way. However, she is a legend and someone I have always respected. She will be honest with you. Alright, let’s podcast together. Reese said, “She’s ten toes behind what’s right,” in reference to Swoopes on the Unapologetically Angel podcast.

Did Sheryl Swoopes’ most recent remarks start a new rivalry? React!

The four-time WNBA champion has recently been embroiled in numerous scandals. Nancy Lieberman and Stephen A. Smith were targeted by Swoopes on Tuesday when Lieberman disclosed that she had called Swoopes following her remarks about Clark in March, when the latter had surpassed Pete Maravich’s record. However, the Hall of Famer said on Tuesday that Smith and Lieberman were threatening her after she had denied receiving any calls about it.

Before drawing attention to Lieberman’s hostile remarks directed towards Clark’s opponent Chennedy Carter for pushing the Iowa alum during a Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever game in June, Swoopes had given Smith his phone number and called him out on X. As a result, Swoopes has engaged in numerous altercations. In an effort to refute claims that she is a Clark hater, Swoopes released texts exchanged with Clark demonstrating her admiration for her accomplishments.

Leaked texts from Caitlin Clark versus the ascent of Angel ReeseWho should I watch as the true WNBA star?

On Monday, Swoopes released screen grabs from her private chat with Clark. In the texts, the broadcaster apologised to Clark for thinking that 2023–24 would be her fifth season with the Hawkeyes, which was a mistake. “Covid year is really confusing me.Haha! I admire your skill and have nothing but respect for you and your game. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments to date. Swoopes had listed in the texts, “Be blessed.

If the texts are accurate, Clark acknowledged her apology and thanked her for “inspiring ladies like myself and developing the foundation and platform we have today,” saying that she “truly appreciate(s) you reaching out and there’s no hard feelings.” Swoopes continued by saying that Clark has been elevating the game to a “whole new level” and that she “appreciate(s) you and your game.

Now that Reese has spoken out in favour of Swoopes, maybe supporters will remember Swoopes’s accomplishments in basketball and stop criticising her for criticising Clark. And the 53-year-old won’t have any trouble carrying out her broadcasting responsibilities going forward.
