Significant upset as Australian Popyrin overcomes Novak Djokovic to advance to the US Open’s final 16

Shooting star Alexei Popyrin’s record-breaking victory in the third round of the US Open in New York has destroyed Novak Djokovic’s most recent attempt at tennis immortality.

Under the brilliant lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday night, Popyrin sensationally ended Djokovic’s 18-year grand slam winning streak over Australians with a commanding 6-4 6-4 2-6 6-4 triumph. Djokovic was once again driven to win a fifth major at Flushing Meadows and tie Margaret Court’s record of 24 singles majors, having already won the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.
