How Sprinting sensation Sha’Carri Richardson has gone out of focus after Paris Olympics

Sha’Carri Richardson won two Olympic medals in her debut appearance at the quadrennial games held at the French capital. After the conclusion of the games, the American athlete is yet to make a major media appearance whereas on the other hand, all her fellow contemporaries are in the center of the media limelight after their victorious pursuits at the Paris Olympics.

The American athlete won the silver medal in the women’s 100m and played a pivotal role in Team USA’s victory in the women’s 4x100m relay finals as she turned the race around in the anchor leg after trailing behind in fourth place to clinch the Olympic gold medal. After the Paris Olympics, Richardson did not make appearances in video interviews and mainstream shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live.

On the other hand, her Team USA teammate, Gabby Thomas, who won three gold medals at the Paris Olympics has been in the center of the media limelight ever since registering her most successful campaign at the Paris Olympics. Thomas made appearances on CBC Morning Show, the famous Today Show, Vogue Magazine, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and GQ Sports among others.

Richardson’s disappearance from the mainstream media after great pursuits at the Paris Olympics led to a lot of discussion among fans on social media. They made comparisons with Gabby Thomas’ media appearances as well as coverage after the Olympics.

“Sha’Carri Richardson has been the dominant American female for about 5 years at her sport and never got this kind of press run, Amerikka hiding its unapologetically Black athletes again,” a fan said.

Richardson gave a press interview with Refinery29 a week after the Paris Olympics. However, fans were left wondering about the reason for her absence from mainstream media appearances.
