Fiji 7s incentive presentation at Sports Awards

At tomorrow night’s 2023 Fiji Sports Awards, the Fiji men’s 7s team will formally receive their prizes for taking home the silver medal in the Olympic Games. The team is headed to Paris.

Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru confirmed this to FBC Sports this afternoon.

Team Fiji was advised prior to their departure for the Paris Olympics that they would be eligible for an incentive consisting of $50,000 for gold medallists, $20k for silver medallists, and $10,000 for bronze medallists.

The awards ceremony tomorrow, according to Saukuru, will honour all sports, and it will be particularly meaningful to have our Olympic silver medallists in attendance.

“Why not attend the Sports Awards tomorrow? They are related to sports, and we achieved that at the Olympics. It seems like the right time to give the boys what they deserve.”

Each player will receive $20,000, and by the next week, the funds should be in their bank accounts.

He continues by saying that it would be ideal to hold the presentation tomorrow while most of the participants are still in the nation.

The Vodafone Arena in Suva will host the Fiji Sports Awards starting at 7:00 p.m.
