Track and field athletes will get NBA-style recognition when Silesia Diamond League releases a special award

There is a revolution taking place in track and field. Many athletes are forgoing meets in favour of competing in more recent events sponsored by wealthy celebrities following the Olympics in Paris.

Gabby Thomas and Alexis Ohanian for Athlos and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Michael Johnson for the Grand Slam Prix are the two primary examples. These tournaments are preferred over the Diamond League since the athletes are rumoured to receive greater financial rewards from them.

To ensure that the athletes are happy and return to compete in the meet, the Diamond League must take action. For this, a different kind of innovation might be needed. That is exactly what the Silesia Diamond League organisers did, elevating the calibre of the competition by adding a new trophy with higher added stakes. The special prize scheme of the Silesia Diamond League

A prize that has never been seen by anyone in track and field is promised by the Silesia Diamond event. Several well-known athletes, like Mondo Duplantis and Femke Bol, responded to questions during a press conference held prior to the stadium event. All those in attendance were captivated by one particular point during the performance, though. A new regulation for the competition states that the athlete who finishes top of the World Athletic standings with the most points will be named the MVP (Most Valuable Player). They will receive a ring from the tournament that resembles the ones that NBA and NFL champions receive.

Piotr Malachowski, the sports director of the meet, addressed the athletes, stating, “We do have a surprise for all of you. Do you know that you can compete against each other? Do you know? Now you know it. We have an MVP award for you tomorrow.

Like MVP title will given to the athlete who will acquire the highest points according to the World Athletics tables. This is the ring like the NFL champion ring, NBA champion ring. 14 carats gold with a diamond on top.” This is a major statement by the meet since the embellishments in the metal are no joke and must have cost a lot. The winner will also get $10,000 cash reward. It is an intriguing step taken by the organizers to arouse interest in it. Moreover, it seems that the plan has already started to function.

Athletes have already started boasting that they’ll win the honour. Mondo Duplantis cheekily asserted his claim to the ring for which he has to beat the World record again Mondo Duplantis, who has pretty much won everything he has competed in at the mere age of 24, was quite happy about the thought of another trophy he could take home.

“It is nice. It would look well on my shelf.” he remarked with a wink. Well, everyone pretty much might just take this seriously because he is arguably the favorite for this.

But what does he have to do to make this reality? It’s a relatively straightforward task. Mondo Duplantis has to do exactly what he’s known for. He has to reduce the world record again, marking the tenth time in his career. The pole vaulter clearing the 6.26 meters barrier would be most probably enough for him to get the ring. But what do the other athletes need to do to stake their claim in it? The maths again is not complex at all.

They basically will have to shatter the world record in their respective sport.

That would give them enough points in the World Athletics table, gifting them the ring. It’ll be rather intriguing to see who gets hands on this peculiar award. For the first time ever, participants of diverse sports will be practically competing against each other, thus raising the excitement in the competition. What do you think? Who will win the inaugural ring?
