Flying Fijians rely on new talent

Due to family obligations, veteran players were granted time off, therefore Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne was forced to add six uncapped players to his extended roster for the Pacific Nations Cup.

Adrea Cocagi, Vuate Karawalevu, and Mesake Vocevoce, Apisalome Vota, Kavaia Tagivetaua, and Epeli Momo are the new players, who are Drua from Fiji.

Byrne thinks this is a great chance for these upstarts to establish themselves.

He believes the uncapped guys will do well even with the absence of certain established players.

He has counselled them to embrace their true selves and have fun during the PNC.

“Our players from the Northern Hemisphere immediately returned to playing rugby for their teams. Lastly, they conducted the All Blacks test. So they’ve taken a few weeks off work and are visiting relatives. Thus, Semi Radrodro is among those athletes. He feels guilty for not being able to descend.

The majority of the team’s veterans, including Semi Radradradra, will return in November, according to Byrne.

At HFC Bank Stadium on Friday, the Fiji Water Flying Fijians take on Samoa.
