Quincy Hall wins gold in men’s 400m at 2024 Paris Olympics after final metres comeback against Hudson-Smith

America’s Quincy Hall triumphed in the Olympic 400m final in Paris, securing his first global title amid fierce international competition.

America’s Quincy Hall pulled off one of the greatest comebacks ever to dominate the Olympic 400m final and win gold in Paris, ending his wait for a global title.

 

The 26-year-old sprinter clocked a personal best of 43.40 seconds edging out his rivals in a fiercely competitive race.

Close on his heels was Great Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith who set an area record with a time of 43.44 seconds.

 

Muzala Samukonga of Zambia also left a mark by setting a national record of 43.74 seconds securing a commendable third place.

 

Not far behind, Jereem Richards from Trinidad and Tobago finished with a personal best of 43.78 seconds further highlighting the high standards of the race.

Kirani James, a seasoned athlete from Grenada, was also in the mix finishing the race in 43.87 seconds.

 

The London 2012 gold medalist and Rio 2016 silver medalist has been a consistent presence on the Olympic podium and continued to show his prowess in Paris.

 

Meanwhile, another American, Christopher Bailey and Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi finished with times of 44.58 and 44.73 seconds respectively.

Michael Norman, representing the USA, rounded out the group with a time of 45.62 seconds.

 

Hall went into the Olympics as one of the favorites alongside Hudson-Smith as they were the only two men to have broken 44 seconds for one lap of the track this year.

 

Both sprinters had shown superb form at the right time to contend for Olympic gold, setting the stage for a dramatic showdown.

Both were close to claiming the title at the World Championships in Budapest last year, with Hudson-Smith winning the silver medal and Hall securing the bronze.

 

This time around Hall turned the tables, capturing the coveted gold and establishing himself as the top sprinter of the year.
