Mazey tips hat off to men’s 7s side

Peter Mazey, the interim chair of the Fiji Rugby Union, praised the Team Fiji men’s 7s for winning a silver medal and stressed that the achievement is a source of pride for the entire country.

 

Speaking during the team’s morning welcoming ceremony, Mazey expressed his admiration for the players’ outstanding accomplishment.

 

He claims that this achievement not only represents their diligence and hard work, but also captures the essence of Fiji.

 

“Many thanks! You’ve done it once more. This is an amazing occasion for all of us, and we are here to celebrate your extraordinary accomplishment that has given Fiji great pride, not just as supporters but as one big family.

 

Mazey emphasises how the team exceeded all expectations and played incredibly well.

 

He spoke about the unique experience of seeing the squad walk off the stage with their medals.

 

With two gold medals from the Rio and Tokyo Olympics, Fiji’s 7s squad has a strong track record.

 

They defeated the host country, France, in a fiercely contested match to win the silver medal this year.
