Will Simone Biles compete in the uneven bars final? Here’s why you won’t see the gymnastics GOAT

Simone Biles is an Olympic athlete who excels in every discipline, although she will not be competing in the uneven bars event in Paris in 2024.

Why then isn’t the greatest gymnast of all time competing in this one event?

Biles did participate in the uneven bars during the individual all-around final, but she was not guaranteed a spot in the individual competition this coming weekend.

Biles lost by tenths of a point in the uneven bars finals. Since she qualified for the race in ninth position, she is regarded as a “reserve athlete.”

Up for a medal as of Thursday was Biles’s colleague Sunisa Lee, the only American competitor.

According to NBC Olympics, Biles, who has already won gold in Paris with her Team USA ‘Golden Girls’, earlier submitted an original uneven bar skill for review to the FIG Women’s Technical Committee. (Watch her use the ability here.)

This skill is a modification on her regular Weiler half, with a distinct hip circle forward and 1.5 rotations added.

Nevertheless, in her three competitions for the event, Biles never tried the move.

She won’t be able to try it in Paris because she didn’t make the final.

But there will be plenty of other opportunities for fans to watch Biles compete in Paris outside of the bars.

There are still a tonne of upcoming events that include Biles and the American team.

Watch the gymnastics routines from Team USA that helped them win gold in the women’s all-around competition.

There are still events to see, including the finals for the vault, balancing beam, uneven bars, and floor exercise.

Team USA had four of its five members advance to at least one event final. The sole member of the squad that won’t be competing in any other events is Hezley Rivera, the 16-year-old rookie and youngest member of the team.

The “two-per-country” rule in Olympic gymnastics states that only two gymnasts from each nation are permitted to compete in each final. This implies that only the top two gymnasts from squad USA can compete in each event, even if multiple competitors from the squad record high marks.

This is the next competition date for the gymnastics.

Schedule for women’s gymnastics: Vault final

Both Carey and Biles made it to the vault final. Biles won the competition in the Rio Olympics in 2016 but was unable to defend her title in 2020 after she withdrew from the final due to “the twisties.” Carey participated in the Tokyo vault final in 2020, but her two weak routines kept her off the podium.

Schedule for women’s gymnastics: Final uneven bars

The only female American to make it to the uneven bars final was Lee. Lee is a medal contender in what is usually regarded as one of her greatest events. She won the bronze in the event in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Making the podium in the uneven bars final is one of Lee’s main objectives, she stated prior to the Games.

Schedule for women’s gymnastics: Finals for balance beam

In the balancing beam final, Biles and Lee will compete against one other once more. This duel is sure to be close because the two have been swapping off the highest scoring beam routines throughout the 2024 season. In the balance beam competition, Biles won the bronze medal in both 2016 and 2020. Conversely, Lee has yet to win a medal in an Olympic balance beam competition.

On August 5, the balance beam final gets underway at 5:36 a.m. CT. At 4:45 a.m. CT on E! and 8:30 a.m. on NBC 5, the streaming will commence.

Schedule for women’s gymnastics: Last floor exercise

The last event in the women’s gymnastics competition this Olympics will be the floor exercise final. Chiles and Biles have both made the cut.

Carey earned the gold medal in the floor exercise competition after Biles had to withdraw from the 2020 Games after winning the competition in 2016. Carey had an unusual fall in the qualifiers, which kept him from competing in the Olympics this year. She had been battling a sickness during the Games, it was later learnt.

Chiles scored well enough to secure the second seed in the final following Carey’s defeat. Throughout the Games thus far, Chiles’ Beyonce-inspired floor routine has consistently drawn large crowds.
