At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Katie Ledecky emerges victorious!

After winning bronze in the women’s 400-meter freestyle event, she went on to win another gold medal in the 1500-meter freestyle event, setting a new Olympic record with a time of 15:30.02.

Katie’s new time surpasses her personal best of 15:35.35, which she achieved during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Not only did Katie break the previous record, but she is now tied with fellow American swimmer Jenny Thompson for the most gold medal wins in women’s swimming, with eight total. They each has three silver and one bronze as well.

Since Katie still needs to compete in the Women’s 800m Freestyle on Friday, August 2nd, she might overtake Jenny later this weekend!

As of the writing of this article, Team USA has won 30 Olympic medals overall—five gold, thirteen silver, and twelve bronze—more than any other nation.
