Boris Becker has been tracking the Olympic journeys of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz in Paris in 2024.

The Spanish players competed in men’s doubles as well as singles. Although Alcaraz has advanced to the quarterfinals in the singles tournament, Rafael Nadal’s dreams of winning a second gold medal in the division (after Beijing 2008) were dashed in the second round by Novak Djokovic (6-1, 6-4).

On Wednesday, July 31, the former World No. 1s will compete against Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram of the United States for a spot in the men’s doubles semifinals. They only started getting ready for this assignment last week, which is their first together. However, their outcomes show that they have swiftly developed a cordial working relationship.

To the surprise of the tennis community, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have been exercising together and developing a bond off the court. Before their campaign began, Alcaraz stated:

We’re going to play with everything we’ve got, and maybe we can have a terrific game. Despite my lack of experience, I aim to pick up doubles fast. I’d like to play it, but I’ve never been able to because of personal problems. Rafa knows everything, and I can too. He told the media, “That way of competing, that battling style, and that humility off the court,” according to Eurosport.

Their friendship delighted Boris Becker. He penned:

Adore the fraternity between Carlito and Rafa! Spain. A good example for other nations!”
