In BOG, three players pass the test.

During the Suva pool games of the Battle of the Giants, three players have tested positive for drugs.

According to Mohammed Yusuf, chief executive of the Fiji FA, 48 players have already undergone testing.

Yusuf goes on to say that of these three players, two tested positive on the first day of the competition and the third on the second.

According to the CEO of Fiji FA, steps were made right away in response to the findings.

Thus, they’ve already been put on suspension. We will determine if the six are first-, second-, or third-time violators before charging them or having them appear before the disciplinary committee.

First-time offenders, according to Yusuf, will be subject to a $300 fine in addition to a three-month suspension that will be paid by the player and their district.
Repeat violators will receive a $500 fine apiece and a three-year suspension from their district.

The ultimate decision about whether to stiffen or lessen the punishment will be made by the disciplinary committee.
The CEO reaffirmed that the final decision on whether to reduce or increase the proposed penalty would be made by the disciplinary committee.

In the meantime, this weekend at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium will see the semi-finals and final of the Rooster Chicken/Scoops Premium Ice Cream competition.
