Baber backs Fiji

Gareth Baber, the coach of the Fiji 7s 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games gold medal winning team, is confident that his team can show up on game day and produce another outstanding performance in Paris the following week.

The Welshman argues that considering Fiji’s past, some people could be concerned.

Baber did, however, tell Rugby Pass that while there is still work to be done, Fiji can definitely gold.

According to him, sevens rugby is very popular in the nation, and Fiji has always produced some players who are really talented.

In addition to France, who can also do well, the former national 7s coach thinks that New Zealand will be establishing itself as a serious medal contender. Their main obstacle will be creating a framework that will allow their players to perform at their highest level in front of the home fans.

Rugby experts also predict that Australia, New Zealand, and France will win the gold medals in the men’s and women’s 7s.

Next Thursday at Stade De France, Fiji’s opening pool match is against Uruguay at 3 a.m., followed by a match against the USA at 6.30 a.m.

Three days later, at 3.30am, at the same location, the Fijiana first faces Canada.

Later evening, our Fiji 7s team marches into the Games village.
