McGregor blasts Poirier’s foundation – ‘Broke scammers, him and his wife’

Conor McGregor has slammed Dustin Poirier’s The Good Fight Foundation by calling it fraudulent.

His comments were made following the Foundation’s auction of some UFC 302 memorabilia. The Foundation is a non-profit organisation that raises money to help those in need in Louisiana, Dustin’s hometown. It covers issues such as food, health care and environmental disaster relief.

Following Poirier’s loss to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, he auctioned off some of his memorabilia. One of those interested in a piece was Khabib Nurmagomedov, who reportedly has offered to bid on the fight kit. Khabib and Dustin faced each other at UFC 242 in 2019, where The Eagle won via a third-round submission.

Poirier vs. McGregor

“Dustin Poirier says Khabib Nurmagomedov wants to buy his fight kit from his bout with Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, according to Khabib’s manager, Ali. The fight kit was on auction with the highest bid at $25,000. All funds go to Dustin Poirier’s ‘The Good Fight Foundation.”

Dispite this being the case, McGregor has not been left happy with the Foundation, calling it a scam.

“Scammers, him and his wife. Scammers. Buy the shorts that he quit in the most important fight of his life. Scammers, him and his wife. Scammers. Broke scammer alert,” McGregor

McGregor and Poirier have not had the best relationship. They have faced each other three times, with Dustin leading the head-to-head 2-1. Their last UFC fight happened in 2021 at UFC 264 when Dustin emerged victorious. McGregor broke his leg and made controversial remarks, saying Dustin’s wife was in his DMs.

McGregor’s Injury

That has created further animosity between the two, with Dustin ruling out a fourth fight. He recently requested that Islam rematch him, but so far, that is unlikely to happen. Dustin has dismissed a fourth fight with the possibility of retirement on his mind. He also called out McGregor’s UFC 303 withdrawal following a toe injury.

“A pinky toe, I fought with a lot of injuries over the years. A pinky toe doesn’t seem like a reason to pull out of a fight. He crossed lines you can’t come back from. I want to whip his [butt] [when he tweets about me]. He’s trying to bring that out of me, he wants me to fire back. We have a lot of back-and-forth over the years, since 2014, no clue [if a fourth fight is possible],” Poirier stated

Dustin also directed some harsh words for Michael Chandler. This was after Chandler suggested that he should retire. Dustin has fallen short in many title fights, losing to Charles Oliveira, Khabib and Islam, all for the UFC Lightweight Title. He was also knocked out by Justin Gaethje at UFC 291, missing out on the chance to become the BMF Champion. Since Chandler only had two UFC victories, Poirier returned those comments.

“Come on dude, no thank, retire we good. Who the [hell] is ‘we?! You just go here, buddy. You’re not one of us. You’re not ‘we.’ I’ve been here. ‘We’re good.’ Who’s we? Welcome to the UFC, dude. You’ve got one win in the UFC… Yeah, bro. He’s not one of us. I’ve been cutting my teeth in the UFC since January of 2011 or 2010. He just got here. Who is we? He’s speaking for the lightweight division? Muscle Milk Mike needs to chill,” Poirier stated
