Alasdair Gold provides an update on Tottenham’s tardy attempt to capture Leeds’ Archie Grey Lucas Arnold

Journalist Alasdair Gold of Tottenham Hotspur has now offered his perspective on the team’s decision to sign Leeds United rookie Archie Grey.

Grey had flown to Brentford, a rival team in London for Spurs, to finish a physical in the previous day, but that agreement has since fallen through.

The £40 million deal from Brentford was rejected due to a disagreement over the payment terms.

Spurs, who have had a long-standing interest in Grey, have since moved to try to finalise a deal for the 18-year-old.

When the news originally broke, journalist David Ornstein stated that Grey would like to join the Spurs and that all parties were hopeful that a deal could be completed.

During the Emirates FA Cup Fifth Round match, Leeds United’s Archie Grey sprints with the ball while being pressured by Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo.

Ange Postecoglou, who spent much of the previous season playing right-back for Leeds, would seem to be in a perfect position to continue Gray’s progress.

It’s reported that Johan Lange was given the assignment to locate his management a new defensive midfield player; as an added bonus, it’s possible that he covered for Pedro Porro.

According to Alasdair Gold, talks to sign Archie Grey by Tottenham are still “extremely early.”

Leeds United needs to raise money before Sunday’s deadline in order to prevent a possible point deduction the next season due to its PSR issues.

The team led by Daniel Farke will be driven to make a comeback to the Premier League the following season, which is why the club cannot afford a PSR suspension.

Journalist Alasdair Gold has since begun posting his own analysis of Ornstein’s news on X, keeping that in mind.

While acknowledging that the transfer was still in its “very early stages,” Gold confirmed Ornstein’s claim and stated that Tottenham was attempting to complete a deal for Grey.

He revealed: “According to David Ornstein, Spurs are attempting to complete a deal for Archie Grey following Brentford’s inability to reach an agreement with Leeds.

An exceptional talent. If Tottenham can pull it off, that would be a fantastic deal. extremely early phases right now.

Naturally, Spurs supporters will be watching this one closely on both sides of England’s Sunday Euro 2024 matchup with Slovakia.

And even if there is still a lot of work to be done for now, Postecoglou might be about to welcome a player who could go on to star for England in the future.
