Dana White reacts to Jiri Prochazka’s bizarre Alex Pereira ‘witchcraft’ claim ahead of UFC 303 title rematch

The UFC President couldn’t help but laugh at Prochazka’s comments as he noted that claims of ‘witchcraft’ just add more fuel to the UFC 303 fire.

Earlier in the UFC 303 Fight Week, Kari Prochazka made headlines when he requested that his opponent, light heavyweight king Alex Pereira, refrain from using ‘spiritual things’ and ‘magic’ to help him fight.

Whilst the bizarre comments continue to be a source of intrigue and entertainment for fight fans, even Dana White was forced to acknowledge that the conversation around ‘witchcraft’ is pure promotional brilliance from BJP.

Jiri Prochazka clarifies his bizarre comments on Alex Pereira

Speaking at the UFC 303 pre-fight press conference, Alex Pereira explained that he believes “everyone has a spirit, we don’t just live in a body” and that if Prochazka “hasn’t found his spirits yet, that’s not my fault.”

The Czech Samurai was given the opportunity to clarify some of his comments regarding Pereira’s use of ‘witchcraft’, noting that he just wants to keep the fight ‘fair’.

“This is not a question of whether I am self-confident, I am 100% self-confident but this is the speak about dirty practice and all these things behind that, and I just want to keep that in a clear way; that is all I am talking about.”

Dana White reacts to the ‘witchcraft’ claim saying it’s par for the course

Dana White couldn’t help but laugh when The Mac Life’s Oscar Willis asked him whether the NSAC tested for ‘witchcraft and sorcery’ following the comments made by former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka.

“I don’t know, I love that s*** though,” chucked White, explaining how such bizarre comments are simply par for the course with two iconic, if not rather eccentric, warriors of Prochazka and Pereira’s magnitude.

“When Jiri found out about the fight; apparently, he goes into a shed for three days with no water, no food, no nothing and [he] prays, meditates, whatever he does.

“Apparently, his coach went and banged on the door and told him that this fight was available, and he said something to the effect of ‘If this is what the universe wants’ – so he is ‘that’ dude.”

White says that when Prochazka tells him “This is unfair, he’s using witchcraft or whatever black magic’, it is just another reason why this fight is so f***** awesome.”

“This is real, this isn’t fabricated bulls*** where somebody wants to come out with a gimmicky f**** wrestling-type thing. This is who these two guys really f***** are man.

“This is what makes people love- you know when something is authentic to the core, this is who these people are as opposed to some bulls*** wrestling s***.”

Whilst the main event of UFC 303 and the subsequent PPV numbers will indeed suffer now that Conor McGregor won’t be featuring, that doesn’t mean that the promotion isn’t delighted with such an outstanding replacement fight.

“These guys are both legit killers and numbers don’t lie, when you look at the stats of what these guys have accomplished, it’s incredible.”

Prochazka and Pereira go to war in just a few hours’ time, live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, in the main event of UFC 303.
