BREAKING: Huge Novak Djokovic Wimbledon update has just dropped and it’s encouraging

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic is reportedly set to at least try playing at The Championships as the Serbian tennis superstar is planning to arrive at The All England Club on Monday and see what happens next week, via BBC Sport.

Today, a video of Djokovic practicing just 17 days after undergoing knee surgery surfaced. Now, there is a report claiming that the 37-year-old Serb is planning to fly to London at the start of next week – practice for a couple of days – see how his knee reacts and then decide whether or not to play at The Championships.

Before BBC’s report about Djokovic’s Wimbledon participation, it was announced earlier this week that the Serb was officially named as a part of Serbia’s team for the Paris Olympics.

There were signs Djokovic would try to play Wimbledon

Initially, it was believed that Djokovic playing at Wimbledon was very unlikely. But then earlier this week, Taylor Fritz – who tore his knee meniscus at the 2021 French Open but still competed at Wimbledon that year – revealed that the Serb contacted him to ask him some things.

Messaging back Djokovic, Fritz told him that playing at The Championships was possible.

“I told him what it was like for me. A lot of it comes down to the inflammation and how you react,” Fritz said earlier this week.

“It’s possible for Novak to play. It’s the exact same thing that I had and I played. Obviously, I wasn’t contending to win a title, I was just showing up to hopefully win a couple of rounds – but it is possible.”

At Wimbledon, Djokovic has been a very dominant figure in recent years, winning four consecutive titles before losing to Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s final.

Knowing Djokovic, he will decide to play Wimbledon only he feels he is ready enough to contend for the title.
