Nottingham Forest have now hijacked a rival club’s deal – and look set to secure the player’s signature themselves.

The Garibaldi are already making progress with a deal to sign Corinthians No.22 Carlos Miguel – who has agreed to move to the City Ground – and Nottingham Forest now seem well placed to finalise another move.

So, what is the situation involving Nottingham Forest? Let’s take a look…

Nottingham Forest set to hijack Che Adams deal

This saga has already seen more twists than a rollercoaster – and the transfer window does not even officially open until Friday.

Nottingham Forest were initially confident of signing Che Adams on a free transfer after he decided against signing a new contract with Southampton.

However, Wolves then barged their way in and appeared to have hijacked the deal.

Now, Nottingham Forest have fought back – according to Football Transfers.

It is said that the Reds have offered Adams a “better overall package” than Wolves, and a move to the City Ground now looks very likely for the Scotland international.

If Nottingham Forest do manage to get this deal finalised, it would bring an end to a saga which has spanned across a decade, after Fawaz Al-Hasawi rejected the chance to sign the striker from Ilkeston Town in 2014 following a recommendation from Stuart Pearce.

The Leicester-born forward scored 17 goals in 46 appearances last season as Southampton won the Championship Play-Off Final, while also providing six assists.

For those who are unaware of how Adams operates, he has been compared to Jermain Defoe by former teammate Omar Bogle.

Scotland international could replace Taiwo Awoniyi

If Nottingham Forest do manage to bring the £30,000-a-week man to the City Ground, it could speed up an exit for Taiwo Awoniyi.

The Daily Mail believe Nottingham Forest are willing to sell the Nigeria international this summer after an injury-hit 2023/24 campaign.

Signing Adams on a free transfer – while receiving around £20m for Awoniyi – would also do wonders for Nottingham Forest’s finances, as the Premier League clamp down on Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Nottingham Forest attempt to beat Wolves to Adams.
