The NBA Finals have begun and both teams made a video before the first game to heat up the rivalry, but the Dallas Mavericks surprised their fans…
This season, the NBA finalists are the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks.
With this in mind, the Celtics have released a video looking back at the team’s journey through the playoffs and the taunts they faced until they reached the finals. All this with none other than Tom Brady narrating. The great champion and legend of the New England Patriots.
On the other side, the Mavericks did the same thing….but the voice behind the video was different. If they followed the ‘natural’ scheme, Dak Prescott would be the name to represent the team, but the Mavs chose Patrick Mahomes, the baby GOAT, as the narrator.
Why the media team chose Patrick Mahomes
It’s a fact that Mahomes is a fanatical basketball fan, and even played for a while in high school.
Not only that, but he’s also a product of Texas Tech, so he naturally has a fondness for the state.
The quarterback has been present at many post-season games cheering on the Mavericks, as well as always being connected on social media and commenting in real time on what’s happening with his team.
To match the level of the Boston video, it’s very likely that Mahomes was chosen for the ‘winning’ factor, thus giving a more motivating air to the Mavericks fans, who are in the final for the first time since 2011.
NFL fans’ reaction to the video
After the post, the NBA community on social media only joked about Prescott not being chosen to be the voice of the video.
Bouncer Bob (@PrinceofBrizzy): Dak has officially lost the city of Dallas
michael (FINALS MAVS IN 6) (@gladblackband): Thank god for not inviting any of the cowboys negative vibes in this
Logan Bard (@loganbard42): Patty more of a champ then any other Cowboys I’ll take it
Payton Pritchard Enthusiast (@TatumsTaint): Couldn’t use a cowboys player (emoji laughing + emoji crying)
Mitchell (@MitchellAdams90): When you are so disappointed in your football franchise, that you use a player from another city’s team to narrate your video. Wow.
